Essential Travel Tips
Practical advice to make your China journey smooth and memorable.
Best Time to Visit
April-May and September-October offer the best weather for most destinations. Avoid Chinese New Year (late Jan/Feb) and National Day (Oct 1-7) when attractions are packed and prices peak.
Visa Requirements
Most visitors need a tourist (L) visa before arrival. Apply at your nearest Chinese embassy or consulate. 144-hour transit visa-free policies cover Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and more.
Getting Around
China's high-speed rail network is the largest in the world. Between cities: bullet trains (300+ km/h). Within cities: extensive metro systems. Didi is the local Uber equivalent for taxis.
Payment & Internet
WeChat Pay and Alipay dominate. Set these up before arrival. A VPN is essential for accessing Google, WhatsApp, Instagram etc. Get one before entering China.
Language
English is not widely spoken outside major hotels and airports. All our tours include English-speaking guides. Download a translation app for independent exploration.
Packing Tips
Comfortable walking shoes are essential. Bring layers for spring/autumn. A scarf is useful for temple visits. Carry tissue paper — not all public restrooms provide it.
