May–October. July–August is peak. September–October has the best weather. Southern Xinjiang is warmer; the north is cooler.
Transportation
Urumqi is the main air hub. High-speed train connects Urumqi-Turpan. Kashgar is a 2-hour flight from Urumqi. Distances are enormous.
