Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Urumqi
Arrive Urumqi. Xinjiang Regional Museum (Silk Road mummies). Evening: Erdaoqiao Bazaar & Uyghur dinner with lamb kebabs and pilaf.
Day 2: Heavenly Lake
Day trip to Heavenly Lake (Tianchi) in the Tian Shan mountains — turquoise alpine lake surrounded by snow peaks. Hike lakeside trails. Kazakh yurt visit for milk tea.
Day 3: Turpan
Drive to Turpan — the second-lowest depression on Earth. Visit Flaming Mountains and Grape Valley — taste 20 varieties of grapes. Jiaohe Ancient City — 2,000-year-old Silk Road ruins.
Day 4: Kashgar
Fly to Kashgar. Visit the legendary Sunday Bazaar (if Sunday) — one of Asia's largest markets. Explore the Old City maze of mud-brick alleys. Id Kah Mosque.
Day 5: Kashgar & Departure
Apak Khoja Tomb. Livestock market (Sunday only). Kashgar departure or continue Pamir Highway.
