Though inspired by the water towns of the Yangtze River Delta, it has a unique northern charm. Covering 9 square kilometers (3.5 square miles), the town features well-arranged houses, old quartzite streets, and winding alleys, recreating the style of North China towns in the early 20th century. When night falls, carefully designed lighting transforms the town into a magical world, with warm glows making it one of China's most stunning ancient town night views.

Simatai Great Wall

Part of the Gubei Water Town International Resort, currently only the East 2 to East 10 watchtowers are open to the public (the west section remains closed). The Great Wall at night is dotted with lights, offering a unique ambiance. Hiking here allows you to admire the grandeur of both the eastern and western sections. It's highly recommended to climb at least to Watchtower 8 – the view is absolutely breathtaking!

One-Day Itinerary

Here's a sample itinerary, fully customizable to suit your preferences:

10:30: Your guide will meet you in the hotel lobby.

12:30: Arrive at the destination after approximately 2 hours of driving (without traffic jams). You can have lunch either inside the town or before entering the scenic area.

Afternoon: Explore Gubei Water Town and immerse yourself in its ancient charm.

Evening to Night: Visit Simatai Great Wall. With luck, you might catch a stunning sunset and enjoy the brilliant night views.

Around 20:00: Depart and return to Beijing.

司马台长城

作为古北水镇国际度假区的一部分，目前仅东 2 至东 10 号敌楼对公众开放（西侧未开放）。夜晚的长城被灯光点缀，别有一番风味。徒步其上，可同时欣赏东西两段长城的壮丽景色，强烈推荐至少登上 8 号敌楼，景观绝对震撼！
