Hangzhou presents, the 'Impression West Lake performance - part of the 'Impressions' series by esteemed director Zhang Yimou and team. Impression West Lake takes Yuehu - the hidden northwest segment of iconic West Lake, as its stage. Here, between the Quyuan 'lotus breeze' Gardens and Su Causeway, open-air seating faces onto the quiet night waters of Yuehu.

Take your seat by the water. Light, lazer and fountain installations accompany dynamic mass choreography and a vivid musical score to bring the darkness of the lakescape to life. The stage takes form, and the show begins. Through nine interludes, delve into Hangzhou folklore. See cultural memory and imagination animated. Discover 'Impression West Lake' Zhang Mouyi has crafted the looking glass, and this is your chance to see the Lake through China's eyes.

A Feast of Chinese Aesthetics

This performance is a celebration of Chinese aesthetics. Since the G20 Summit and its appearance on the Chanel haute couture stage, Impression West Lake has been captivating audiences worldwide.

The performance masterfully combines the stunning scenery of West Lake with rich cultural elements. Imagine the soft moonlight being "crushed" by the plucking of a pipa, with the shimmering lake waves turning into floating qin frets. The flowing water sleeves of Yue opera tell the touching story of the Butterfly Lovers, bringing back memories of Jiangnan in a seamless blend of light and water.

The show is outdoor live-action performance. Most seats are equipped with rain shelters. The Impression West Lake performance will go ahead in rainy weather and the organizer will provide raincoats for free.In the event of uncontrollable circumstances and/or severe weather events such as typhoons, customer service will promptly contact attendees before the performance to inform of the situation, reschedule ticket sessions or provide a full refund.
