| Ancient City of Lijiang | Jade Dragon Snow Mountain | | The Ancient Town of Lijiang respectively listed as UNESCO's World Cultural Heritage in 1997. Occupying an area of 3.8 square kilometers, the Ancient Town of Lijiang is the only old city built without a city wall and has a history of more than 800 years. Strolling along the street of the Ancient Town of Lijiang, tourists can taste colorful ethnic culture and customs, unrivalled buildings and the breathtaking natural sceneries. | Situated in 15km north of Lijiang city, It is the highest mountain on the south bank of the Yangtze River with an altitude of 5600 meters above sea level. It is composed of 13 peaks, which have the altitudes of at least 4,000 meters. Therefore, various plants and rare animals can live together because of the different altitude. Now it becomes a popular tour destination for sightseeing, mountaineering, skiing, trekking and scientific research. |
| The First Bend of the Yangtze River | Tiger Leaping Gorge |
| The Yangtze River come down from Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, toward southeast, but when it gets to Stone Drum, a beautiful little town in Lijiang, it suddenly make a V-shaped bend and flow to the northeast, thus formed the famous the First Bend of Yangtze River. It is a world-famous geological phenomenon and an unrivalled panoramic scene which makes tourists lingering. |
Stretching 15 kilometers from the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain of Lijiang to Haba Snow Mountain of Zhongdian, Tiger Leaping Gorge (Hutiaoxia) is regarded as one of the deepest gorges in the world with a depth of 3,000 meters. Here, the river twists and turns and vigorously swash against the rocks, the breakers sent up a fountain of spray. The charm of tiger leaping gorge is attracting millions of domestic and overseas tourists every year. |
| Lugu Lake | Baisha Frescos | | The second deepest lake in Yunnan province with an average depth of 40 meters. Embraced by high and glorious mountains, Lugu Lake is renown as one of the most spectacular of all China's natural spots with fresh air, crystal clear water and breathtaking scenery. Its shores are the region inhabited by the Mosuo people, who are not united by marriage, yet keeping a casual cohabitation relationship and only spending the night at their spouses home. | The most famous and preserved frescos stored in Lijiang. Each painting includes at least one hundred vivid figures, who are not only Buddhas but also ordinary people, mirroring the various religious cultures and artistic forms ranging from Buddhism, Lamaism, Daoism to the Naxi Dongba religion. These frescoes are both essential to the research of Chinese painting and important cultural heritage relics too.
