Day-To-Day Itinerary
Day 01: TBA - Kunming Upon arrival, our local guide will meet you and escort you to your hotel. Kunming is home to a mix of ethnic groups and endowed with a remarkable traditional folk culture. The rest of the day is at your own free.
Day 02: Kunming (B+L) After breakfast you will drive about 120 kilometers to the Stone Forest showing you a natural wonder of limestone karst formation formed 270 million years ago. The Stone Forest occupies an area of 400 square kilometers and consists of a whole range of karst formations. In the afternoon you will drive back to downtown city to stroll amongst the Flowers and Birds Market.
Day 03: Kunming - Dali (B+L) Take the morning flight to Dali, well-known historical and cultural city inhabited by Bai people. After checking in and freshening up, you will pay a visit to the Bai village Xizhou and zhoucheng. Xizhou Houses is where the Bai minority people live. You will appreciate their traditional culture there. Zhoucheng restes below Yulong peak and has achieved considerable wealth through its dynamic agriculture and diversified industries, the most famous among which is tie-dyed cloth.Then proceed to the Three Pagodas, a symbol of the history of Dali City. Also enjoy wandering around the Dali Ancient Town first established in 1382 AD.
Day 04: Dali - Lijiang (B+L) In the morning take a 3-hour drive to Lijiang. Visit Shaping Market on the way. Shaping Market is a local market on every Monday. The local people come to the market from surrounding villages to exchange their daily wares, farming products, traditional clothes, or simply foods and vegetables. Upon arrival in Lijiang, check in the hotel. Afternoon is your own pleasure to stroll along the old town.
Day 05: Lijiang(B+L) You will visit Ganhaizi Meadow, Baishui (White Water), take a chairlift to visit the Yak Meadow (3700 M) in the Yulong Snow Mountain. Yulong Snow Mountain stretches a length of 35 kilometers (22 miles ) and a width of 20 kilometers (13 miles ).
Looking from Lijiang Old Town in the south which is 15 kilometers (nine miles) away, the snow-covered and fog-enlaced mountain resembles a jade dragon lying in the clouds, hence, the name Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The highest peak named Fan Peak (Shanzidou in Chinese) which is about 5596 meters above sea level. There are three cable cars in the mountain, the first to Glacier Park (4500 M), the second to Spruce Meadow (3200 M), the third to Yak Meadow (3700 M).
In the afternoon pay a visit to Baisha Frescos. These frescoes are both essential to the research of Chinese painting and important cultural heritage relics too.
Day 06: Lijiang - Shangri-La (B+L) Start the day with set out on the long drive to Shangri-La. Shangri-La, also known as Zhongdian, a bright pearl mounted in the "Great Triangle" connecting Yunnan, Sichuan and Tibet.
From Lijiang, you will drive about 60 Km to the First Bend on the Yangtze River with imposing gorge scenery, and the Iron Chain Bridge in the Stone Drum town. The town of Stone Drum got its name from a large, cylindrical, marble tablet shaped like a drum. The scenery is magnificent as the road running through the Lijiang valley which is filled with wheat field and drying haystacks.
Continue the driving 40 Km more to visit the Tiger Leaping Gorge, the deepest gorge in the world. With 34 rapids of the Yangtze River, it is called the Jinsha in this area because you can find gold in the river. Arrive in Shangri-La in the late afternoon.
Day 07: Shangri-La (B+L) Visit the Songzanlin Monastery in the morning. The Songzalin Monastery, the biggest monastery in Zhongdian, is built on a hill imitating the Potala Palace in Lhasa. More than 500 lamas live and study here. Then make an excursion to Nixi Village of Tibetan to observe the traditional way of making special black pottery by hand. Then visit a Tibetan family. The Tibetan builds their houses by wood with big sitting room and Buddhism hall. The late afternoon is at leisure for your own visiting the old town and local market in Shangri-La.
Day 08: Kunming - TBA (B) The tour guide will transfer you to the airport and help you board the plane to your next destination with wonderful memories.
